PAINTINGS
In my paintings I want to show my love for nature in all its facets. I can look at the veins in a cabbage leaf with fascination, marvel at the fragility of the wings of a butterfly or insect and enjoy the freshness and colour of an apple. I can experience the atmosphere and silence of a landscape for days and take in all the colour shades in the earth, vegetation and skies. We must take care of our world and everything that lives on it and appreciate the beautiful things the world brings us. This realisation dawns on me when I am painting with full attention and concentration. I hope this is reflected in my paintings.
I mainly paint with oil paint. My style is realistic and I work alternately with transparent colours to glaze and add depth and opaque colours to “lighten and enliven.” Building up a painting in different (transparent) layers of oil paint is a fascinating process. You see the work transform from an underpainting in shades of white/brown to the end product in a rich colour palette.
A person never stops learning. This also applies to an artist. That is why I still use the knowledge and skills of teachers in the form of painting lessons to maintain growth and quality in my work. With each new painting I try to portray my subject more strikingly, in more detail, more colorfully and more atmospherically and try to get the best out of myself.
MOSAIC
Color and lines are the most important components for me when making a mosaic. My work is characterized by variation in material (tiles, glass), shape, size, structure and I also paint tiles myself. I get my inspiration from nature, people and animals. Discarded objects, such as vases, wooden animals and trays are given a “second life” by me and become much more colorful than their original appearance.
