A still life with cabbage leaf, tomato, blue grape hyacinths and a twig full of moss.
It starts with arranging and rearranging the cabbage leaf, tomato, blue grapes and twig until I am satisfied with the compostition. Then I take a number of photos and finally choose one to paint.
First I make an underpainting in raw umber and titanium white. Then I build up the painting in layers of mostlh transparent paint. To balance the composition I paint two butterflies. Finally, I apply the highlights with apaque paint.
