Still life of a small vase with a pansy and other flowers. This painting is for sale through the Kunstkerk Dijk en Waard in Sint-Pancras.
It starts with arranging and rearranging the vase of flowers until I'm satisfied with the composition. Then I take several photos to finally choose one to paint. First, I create an underpainting in raw umber and titanium white. Then I build up the painting in layers of mostly transparent paint. Finally, I apply the highlights with opaque paint. This painting was created using the fine painting technique.
